Satguru Jagjit Singh Shastriya Sangeet Pratiyogita 2024

  1. Age categories in Vocal (Khayal gayaki) contest;

     a. Junior (12 to 16 years)        b. Senior (17 to 25 years)

 

Note: Participants born on/between 1st Jan 2008 to 31st Dec 2012 will fall in the Junior category, while the participants born on/between 1st Jan 2000 to 31 Dec 2007 will fall in the Senior category.

2. There will be three stages:

  1) Preliminary Round [ Online ],  

  2) Second Round Locations [New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune] ,  

  3) Final Round [Sri Bhaini Sahib – Ludhiana ].

 

3. The competition is for the Vocal (Khayal Gayaki) Hindustani classical music.

Instructions for the Preliminary round

  1. On registration page, participants have to submit their video links published on YouTube as unlisted or public video recorded as per the instructions below.
  2. Participants must make a single video of both Drut & Vilambit Khayal. Candidates must prepare for both Drut & Vilambit Khayal for the next round as they may be asked to perform in both for the next round.
  3. The participant should upload his/her Photo & Govt. approved photo ID with address and DOB (Aadhaar card/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport)
  4. Video recording should be in single take (in continuity), editing is not allowed.
  5. Length of the video should be 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Video should be in landscape mode.
  7. The participant must be accompanied by a Tabla player, while Harmonium or sarangi player are optional.
  8. The accompanying artists should also be clearly visible in the video. 
  9. Thirty participants of each category from the Preliminary Online Round will be selected for the Second Round, which will held in New Delhi, Kolkata and Pune  in the 3rd and 4th week of October 2024.
  10. Last date for online registration, video uploading is 10th September 2024 till midnight.
  11. One who is already performing professionally will not be entertained in this competition.
  12. The use of digital Tabla applications or equipment is strictly prohibited in the video.
  13. Use of digital tanpura is allowed in the preliminary video round. For next rounds manual taanpura will be available for candidates. 
  14. The participant can be accompanied by a maximum of 2 accompanists only or can come alone too and request for accompanists in next round.
  15. All candidates who participated in season 1(year 2022 and 2023) can also take part in season 3 ( year 2024) except those who won the first prize in their respective age categories and fall in age category.
  16. Please make sure that the uploaded video link of YouTube or any other platform should be accessible, else it can lead to disqualification. Follow the instructions below for YouTube video.

Instructions for the Second round

  1. The Second Round will be held at New Delhi, Kolkata and Pune  in the 3rd and 4th week of October 2024. Dates and Venue for second round will be updated soon.
  2. Candidate will be given option to select one city for second round auditions as per his/her own convenience or choice while registering for the first round.
  3. Participants reaching the Second round must prepare at least 3 Raagas. Participant will be allowed to perform in Raaga of his / her own choice. Judges may ask the candidate to perform in other raagas than the main raaga if needed.
  4. Refreshments will be provided in the second round at New Delhi, Kolkata and Pune.
  5. Please bring your Govt. approved Original photo ID with address and DOB (Aadhaar card/Voter ID/Driving License/Passport).
  6. Maximum time duration to tune the instruments and set the sound will be 5 minutes. 
  7. Performance duration for the Second round is 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. An indication will be given at the start of last 2 minutes to warn the participant to complete his/her performance within those last 2 minutes. 
  9. Final indication will be given at the end of the allotted time to stop the performance. Negative marks will be given if the participant fails to complete the performance by the final indication. 
  10. The participant will have to end his/her performance at any time in between their performance at the discretion of the judges.
  11. Accompanists (Tabla, Harmonium & Taanpura) , the participant can bring his/her own accompanists, in case if accompanists are needed from organisers, candidate must request for the same after selection for second round. 
  12.  The order of the participants would be decided by judges/organisers on the day of competition, and the same would be displayed at the venue. 
  13.  Every participant will have to register on arrival at the venue. 
  14.  It is compulsory for the participant to be present at the competition hall during the entire competition. In case, the participant fails to report on stage even after three calls, he/she will stand disqualified from the competition. 
  15.  The participants are expected to observe strict discipline and any one found indulging in indiscipline of any nature (such as approaching the committee or judges, disrespect towards committee members, judges, use of foul/derogatory language etc.) will be liable for disqualification from the competition. 
  16.  Top 4 to 5 participants found eligible from each city [New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune ] of each category from the Second Round will be selected for the Final Round.

Instructions for the Final round

  1. Finals will be held on 12th – 13th November 2024 at Gurudwara Sri Bhaini Sahib, Ludhiana, Punjab.
  2. Maximum time duration to tune the instruments and to set the sound will be 5 minutes
  3. Performance duration for the finals is 12 to 15 minutes.
  4. There shall be a panel of judges for the conduct of the competition. The norms for the judgment will be decided by the committee and their judgment will be final.
  5. Accommodation, meals & travel tickets of train will be provided by the organizers. Participants are requested to reach the venue on time.
  6. An indication will be given at the starting of last 2 minutes to warn the participant to complete his/her performance within those last 2 minutes. 
  7. Final indication will be given at the end of the allotted time to stop the performance. Negative marks will be given if the participant fails to complete performance by the final indication. 
  8. The participant will have to end his/her performance at any time in between their performance at the discretion of the judges.
  9. Accompanists (Tabla, Harmonium & Taanpura) will be provided to the participant by the organizer. In case, the participant chooses to bring his/her own accompanists, then he/she will have to bear all the related, costs including travel expenses for the accompanists. 
  10.  Every participant will have to register on arrival at the venue. 
  11.  Organizers reserve the right to amend any rules without any prior notice to make the competition more meaningful and transparent.
  12.  The judges are free to ask any questions or set any query in order to evaluate the overall knowledge of any of the candidate. The decision of the judges with respect to evaluation will be final.
  13.  The copyrights of the video and audio recordings of all the stages will lie with the Namdhari Durbar, who may use these recordings or any part thereof, in any form of media and the participating candidate should have no objection for this.

Prizes for the Senior Category
1st ₹1,00,000/- 2nd ₹70,000/- 3rd ₹50,000/- and ₹10,000/ each for all the finalists
Prizes for the Junior Category
1st ₹51,000/- 2nd ₹31,000/- 3rd ₹21,000/- and ₹5,000/ each for all the finalists

Note: For the final result, it is not compulsory for the judges to give a prize on all the three positions. The final call of judgment solely depends on the performance and the talent of the participants.
